Glucosamine is normally extracted from shellfish, which means that
people with shellfish allergies have not been able to take Glucosamine. Equally, vegetarians and people who do not
eat shellfish because of their religious beliefs have not been able to take Glucosamine.
This is why we have developed our vegetarian product, which has
been extracted from Maize (corn). There are other Vegetarian Glucosamine products that have recently been launched
in the UK. However, they are all Glucosamine HCl (Hydrochloride), as opposed to Glucosamine Sulphate 2KCl
(di-potassium Chloride).
Glucosamine Sulphate 2KCl is the most popular and favoured form of Glucosamine as a supplement, and is the one that
you all know and love! The third leading cause of food allergies after eggs and milk is seafood, which includes
both fish and shellfish. It is estimated that about 22% of all populations suffer from a fish allergy and allergy
to shellfish is just as common.
Glucosamine (one of the UK’s leading supplements) is made up of glucose and an amino acid called ‘glutamine’ and is
produced in the body to help manufacture specialised molecules called ‘glycosaminoglycans’ (GAGs), which are
important for the development of bone, tendons, ligaments, nails, hair, skin and cartilage (the gel-like material
that cushions joints). The latter means that Glucosamine is highly beneficial in protecting against degeneration of
the joints and giving relief from the discomfort associated with arthritis (the two most common types being
Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis).
According to the Arthritis Research Campaign some 8.9 million British people (19% of the population) have seen
their GP for arthritis-related conditions whilst many more cases go untreated. The body only produces a certain
amount of Glucosamine, and this decreases with age, which is why it is important to supplement your diet. Each of
our Vegetarian Glucosamine tablets provide you with 750mg of Glucosamine Sulphate 2KCl, which is the ONLY
vegetarian form of Glucosamine Sulphate 2KCl currently available in the UK market.
Moreover, the majority of clinical trials that have shown a positive benefit from the use of Glucosamine, have all
been conducted using the Sulphate form, not Glucosamine Hydrochloride. Therefore, we provide you with the
only vegetarian form of the same compound that has been used in successful clinical
trials.

• Like normal Glucosamine Sulphate it stimulates the growth of cartilage by serving as a building block
for its production.
